Somanathar, Poundarikapuram, Thanjavur
Linked to the Kasi Viswanathar Temple as its adjunct temple, the Poundarikapuram Somanathar Temple, holds historical and mythological significance. The place is named for the naga poundareekan, and also has a sthala puranam relating to Yama. Built during Kulothunga Chola I’s reign, it features numerous koshta murtis and traces back to the 12th century.
