Kailasanathar, Alamankurichi, Thanjavur
Dedicated to Kailasanathar and Kamalambikai, this is a Chola-era structure with limited visitors. Located south of Manniyaru river, it is easily accessible from Kumbakonam. The original temple was built in the early part of the medieval Chola period, with many subsequent renovations. Today, the temple faces maintenance challenges and depends on visitor support for essential upkeep, including basic maintenance and even the salaries of its unpaid caretakers.
