Sthala puranam and temple information

Adhanoor near Kumbakonam is famous for the Andalakkum Aiyan temple of Vishnu, which is a Divya Desam temple.

Located close to Adhanoor is this small but simple one-shrine temple for Lord Vishnu as Varadaraja Perumal.

This relatively rare west-facing Perumal temple features Varadaraja Perumal in the garbhagriham, in nindra kolam, flanked by Sridevi and Bhudevi.

One can walk around the outer prakaram where some older and damaged vigrahams lie discarded.

The temple has a regular bhattar who performs puja here, but for most of the day, is taken care of by an elderly lady who was very kind enough to open the temple for us, early in the morning.
