ஐந்தாம் எண் சைவ சமயத்தில் திரும்பத் திரும்ப வரும் மையக்கருமாகும். உதாரணமாக, சிவனுக்கு ஐந்து தலைகள் உள்ளன – சத்யோஜாதம், வாமதேவம், அகோரம், தத்புருஷம் மற்றும் ஈசானம். சிவபெருமான்மட்டுமே மூல மருத்துவர் – வைத்தியநாதர் – அவரை வழிபடுவது எல்லா நோய்களையும் தீர்க்கும் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. This Divya Desam temple and Vaishnava Navagraha Sthalam (for Sani’s son Mandi) near Kumbakonam, is connected with the Story of how Kumbakonam came into existence. The temple is also known as the pancha sara kshetram, as it covers 5 essences (or Sarams) at one go.
