Magudeswarar, Kodumudi, Erode


Vayu and Adiseshan contested a show of strength, using Mount Meru as a pillar. In this struggle the top of Mount Meru broke in to five pieces (some say seven) and fell in various places as gems, including at Tiruvannamalai, Ratnagiri (Tiruvatpokki), Eengoimalai, and Pothigaimalai. A diamond fell here, and became a swayambhu lingam. Given Adiseshan’s connection, this temple is also well known for clearing nagadosham, and since snakes are tamed with a magudi, Siva here is called Magudeswarar. மகுடேஸ்வரர், கொடுமுடி, ஈரோடு


ஒரு பண்டைய வகை இழுபறியில், வாயுவும் ஆதிசேஷனும் மேரு மலையை மையத் தூணாகக் கொண்டு போட்டியிட்டனர். இந்த போட்டியை வடிவமைத்தவர் இந்திரன். ஆதிசேஷன் மலையை இறுக அணைத்துக் கொண்டான், அதே நேரத்தில் வாயு தன் முழு வலிமையையும் ஊதி மலையை அப்புறப்படுத்தினான். இந்தப் போராட்டத்தில் மேரு மலையின் உச்சி ஐந்து துண்டுகளாக உடைந்து (சிலர் ஏழு என்று சொல்கிறார்கள்) ரத்தினங்களாகப் பல்வேறு இடங்களில் விழுந்தது. அவை திருவண்ணாமலையில் சிவப்பு பவளம், ரத்தினகிரியில் (திருவட்போக்கி), ஈங்கோய்மலையில் மரகதம், பொதிகைமலையில் நீலமணி மற்றும் கொடுமுடியில் வைரம். இந்த வைரம் சிவனின் சுயம்பு லிங்கமாக மாறியது. … Continue reading மகுடேஸ்வரர், கொடுமுடி, ஈரோடு

சங்கமேஸ்வரர், பவானி, ஈரோடு
