Sthala puranam and temple information
This temple for Manikkavasagar is built on the site of the home that the saint was born in. The temple is located close to the Tirumarainathar temple where Manikkavasagar received a form of deeksha from Siva Himself.
The saint is one of the main contributors to the Tirumurai, being the author of the Tiruvasagam and Tirukovayar, which together form the 8th out of the 12 parts of the Tirumurai.
Other Information for your visit
The temple priest serves another one or two temples nearby, but will be able to open the place up for visitors. There is no contact number posted, but there are always some people nearby who can provide the priest’s number.
