त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्
Why this blog?
This is a personal project to document some of the prominent and not-so-prominent temples – mainly in Tamil Nadu but also elsewhere, if relevant or important. As someone who likes stories, mythology and driving, I’ve tried to incorporate these elements into the blog.
With thousands of temples of significance (that is, not counting street corner Pillaiyar kovils!) in Tamil Nadu, that’s going to take a long time to cover! That said, my main objectives from this blog are to provide readers with:
- some information, including pictures, on individual temples themselves (this is not meant to be comprehensive or encyclopedic);
- useful hints and other information on my visits, in the hope that it can help them plan their own trips; and
- identify temples which are in need of visitors, funds or both (or have any other needs), so that those interested can connect with the temple authorities directly.
How we can help
We are most happy to curate temple trips in Tamil Nadu, for our readers. You could email us your specific requirement. We do not charge for these services. If readers require any specific information or assistance that I can provide, I will be most happy to do so.
Secondly, several temples are in various stages of need of funds, visitors or both. We will soon put up a section on the home page identifying these temples. You may wish to support these temples (directly or through us, per your preference) in any way possible.
We do not profit in any way via this blog. Any collections (including for paid content as well as your contributions) are passed on without any deduction, to temples and those in need.
